The reason why we go to space

The space exploration has intangible value.
It's stimulus for people.
Kids always go crazy about the space,
specially if there are some astronauts in front of them.
Even it's good for the economy.
Also through out our history the human kind always keep exploring the new world which used to be considered as a mystery. From Australopithecus to Columbus, Maseran and Wright brothers.
People always try go further in nature.

Interstellar

I watched the film "Interstellar" today.
It was good, especially about the time and space, relativity thing.
The scene that dad is in his daughter's time-space room.
The five dimensional room is good image to me.
It makes me re-think about time, space and our future.

Wind of Tsukuba

They say winter in Tsukuba is not so cold, but the wind is strong.
The cold wind from Mt. Tsukuba is called "Tsukuba oroshi".
Today it was windy and the plastic cover on the washing machine outside was blowed off.

My previous job - In orphanage

Before I came to JAXA Tsukuba Space Center, I was working in orphanage in my hometown, Nara.
I was taking care of children, washing their clothes, cooking for dinner, teaching their homework and so on.
The six children are my "sons", from junior high school to high school (all boys).
I lived with them under the same roof 24-7.
The children are lack of love from their parents from their early age.
Because of that they try to get attachment easily even from strangers.
At bottom, they have sense of doubt against adult.
Trainers have to  guide them in right direction, and help to stand on their own two feet.
Children must leave after they turn 18 years old.
After they graduate from high school, they go back home or they have to get work, rarely go to college.
They sometimes rebel against adult, but trainers need to teach carefully why they have to do something, how meaningful it is, and how to control their temper properly.
The most important thing is to "praise" children.
The more you praise children, the more often children do good things.
When children do bad things, sometimes you should warn them,  but in some situations you have to ignore them because by doing that they want to get attention from you.
It's very difficult task to take care of them.
In many orphanages, trainers and child minder are in overwork physically and mentally.

Hello guys!

Thank you for reading my blog.

I've just decided to write diary in English everyday.
This is for brushing up my English skill.

So...
Let's get it started!

Today I went coaching soft-tennis to elementary kids in Moriya city.
Soft-tennis is a kind of tennis developed in Japan.
Tennis coat is same and the rule is almost same.
The major difference is the ball and racket.
The ball is soft, made of rubber, and it's of course light.
Then racket is lighter than the regular one.
It's more speedy tennis you can play.
